Thieves attempt to break into Samuel Insull's Libertyville estate home in search of alcohol. They shoot and kidnap the guard. (January 1)
The Cook residence is given to the village for use as a library following the death of Emily B. Cook.

H. E. Underbrink is elected principal of the Libertyville Township High School by the Board of Education.

Lake County National Bank opens its new building (February 28)

Ornamental electric street lights installed along Milwaukee Avenue.

Quaker Oats Company buys a 30 acre farm on Lake Street where it established an experimental farm. (September)

The town of Area officially changes its name to “ Mundelein.” (July 18)
The Libertyville Trust & Savings Bank is founded. (September 14)

Free mail delivery established in Libertyville. (March 16)
The first day of operation for the Chicago North Shore line, providing electric train service from Mundelein, through Libertyville, to Chicago. (June 5)
Rockland, Hawthorn, and St. Joseph’s schools are all built.
“Drops of Ink,” the school paper for Libertyville Township High School, was first published in the latter half of the school year.

The village buys its first motor-driven fire truck.
1928
Condell Hospital is dedicated. The new hospital boasts 25 beds. (June 10)
Libertyville Township High School adopts orange and black as their school colors. (September)
The Public Service Building is opened to the public. (November 15)
Dennis Limberry, beloved police chief of Libertyville, dies in his sleep in the New Castle Hotel. (December 29)
