What We're All About... The Children’s Department provides an opportunity for children (from infancy through age thirteen), and adults who have responsibility for them, to experience the rewards lifelong library patronage can provide. Give yourself a wonderful fourth birthday present—your very own library card! Cards are issued to all patrons ages four and up. If you are under fourteen, you will need a parent’s signature to get a card. Learn more about how to get a library card. Come to see us and select books to read for fun, books to use for research and homework, and suggestions on books you might enjoy reading. We love to see you in the summer as a member of our busy summer reading club. We hope you’ll enjoy attending craft workshops, magic shows, music events throughout the year. We also offer preschool storytimes and entertainment programs for the whole family. The Children’s Department offers computers that give you access to informational databases, the Internet, and Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel. You must bring a library card to use a computer—just enter your card number to get started! You can even make a reservation online at the library or you can make a PC reservation from home! The computers in the department are only for the use of children. Adult library cards may not be used on kids' Internet stations. However, kids can sign on to our educational games with Mom or Dad's card if they do not have a card of their own. We don’t permit eating in the library, but you may bring in something to drink as long as it’s in a securely covered container. Please be considerate of others and keep the library a pleasant place to be! |
