Wi-Fi technology allows computers to send and receive Internet data via an ultra-low radio frequency wireless network. Cook Memorial Public Library District offers a wireless network for use during library hours. Free wireless Internet access is available during library hours in the Adult Nonfiction and Fiction sections on the main floor and the Children's Department on the lower level of Cook Memorial Library in Libertyville and in the entire Evergreen Interim Library. PLEASE NOTE: Bring a fully charged battery. Electrical outlets are not readily available.

No. Cook Memorial Public Library District offers this service free of charge. Users must have their own equipment, wireless card, and software. What equipment do I need? A laptop computer equipped with a Wi-Fi compliant (802.11b) wireless Ethernet adapter and accompanying software is required to use the library district’s wireless network. Cook Memorial Public Library District staff will not supply, install, or configure any equipment and/or software on your computer. How do I connect to the library wireless network? When you have successfully connected to our wireless network, you should see a Cook Memorial Public Library District Wireless Network welcome page. By utilizing this service, you are agreeing to the terms of our Statement of Acceptable Use for Electronic Information Networks. Is technical support available from the library staff? No. Due to insurance limitations and warranties, technical support is not available from the library staff. You must be familiar with your device and know how to set it up for wireless access. Is the network secure? No. Cook Memorial Public Library District’s wireless networks are not secure. Information sent to or from your laptop can be captured by anyone else with a wireless device and the appropriate software within three hundred feet. Virus, security, and privacy protection is the responsibility of the user. Is the network filtered? No. The wireless network is not filtered. Content filtering on personal equipment is the responsibility of the user. Can I print? Printing services are available through the wireless network during library hours.
