Changes at Aspen
Question: Some books seem to have been moved at Aspen. What’s going on?
Answer: Good observation! Some categories of books have been moved at Aspen, in both the adult and children’s areas. The purpose of the change is to draw attention to books we don’t want you to miss because they are popular, useful and frequently updated. When you don’t have time to do much browsing and want to find a good book quickly, the highlighted collections can come in very handy.
Nonfiction topics now being featured along the wall by the computer lab and on a trolley by the Children’s DVDs are: personal finance, career, gardening, travel and exam preparation. In those locations you will also find selections popular with book clubs, fresh voices (memoirs and essays) as well as award winners for children.
When you stop in to pick up holds, take a few minutes to peruse the wall of new adult titles and the nearby displays featuring titles enjoyed and recommended by our staff, as well as others with solid reviews and a track record of popularity. The Hidden Treasures display in the Children’s area serves the same purpose for the youngsters in your family. And don’t miss the monthly themed multi-media displays for both kids and adults.
Our goal is to serve you better by saving you time and making it easy to find the items you want most.

Personalized For You
Our dedicated Readers' Advisors are always happy to give you book recommendations based on your own personal reading tastes and preferences. With our new online service, you can now receive this personal attention without coming to the library. Just go to our Web site, www.cooklib.org, and click on the Books, Movies and Music tab. There you’ll find a form to fill out and submit to our Readers’ Advisory staff, who will come up with book recommendations just for you. Adults and teens are invited to give it a try.

Have you tried our digital media offerings yet? Through March 24 you have an easy way to evaluate your experiences with them and offer your opinions. You will also be able to let us know what new technologies (such as photo editing software, VHS-DVD conversion software, or film creation and editing software) you would like to see offered in the future, as well as the types of technology instruction you would find most helpful.

It may feel like winter still has a long way to go, but we are already thinking spring! Today you can go to Adult Programs on our website and start to plan the library events you won't want to miss during March, April and May.
At Aspen we've got you covered whether you are a Trekkie, a gardener, or someone who wants to learn the art of zentangle. At Cook Park, aromatherapy, beer school and Lincoln's assassination are among the topics on the agenda. We will once again partner with the GLMV Chamber to bring lunch hour programs for our business patrons.
Our Authors Outloud series already has eight entertaining authors lined up, starting with fiction superstar Jodi Picoult and the hilarious Jen Lancaster.
And, of course, we will feature photo displays, "how to" ebook sessions, computer and job hunting classes and lots more besides. Take a look!

Attention Genealogy Enthusiasts
Cook Memorial Public Library District is proud to announce that we have been selected as a Library Affiliate of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. This means that you can order genealogy microfilm (birth, marriage, death, probate, land, military records and more) from the Family Search website for $7.50 per reel, and it will be delivered to the Cook Park Library in Libertyville. We will house the microfilm for you, and you can come in and view it any time the library is open. The microfilm is loaned for 90 days, and can be renewed for 60 days. You can also request that the microfilm be kept on indefinite loan, for additional cost.
Order microfilm from the Family Search Catalog after setting up a free account. You will be notified by email when the microfilm has been received. Need some help getting started finding and ordering microfilm? Attend our Genealogy Networking Group meeting at the Cook Park Library at 7 pm on March 7 to learn how to do it, or call the Reference Desk and ask for Thomas, Sonia or Jenny B.
