Technology Associate (non-exempt)

Cook Memorial Public Library District has two part-time positions open for tech-savvy, service-oriented, information technology associates.

Duties include: troubleshooting staff/patron technical issues (i.e., printers, computer etc.); assisting staff with computer set-up for programs, classes or public room reservations; responding to patron and staff technology assistance requests; supporting IT contractor with projects and development.

Hours:
Two Positions total 23 hours – can alternate shifts
Monday through Thursday 6 – 9 pm
Saturday 9 – 4 pm
Sunday 1 -5 pm except July and August

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of computers, printers, Internet, web browsers, and common computer software, including Microsoft Office
  • High school diploma
  • College/technical training computer science highly desirable
  • Ability to interact patiently and pleasantly with people of all ages
  • Experience with Windows operating environment required. Experience with MAC operating environment preferred

Requirements:
Physical requirements include: speaking, hearing, vision and keyboarding ability sufficient to adequately perform the job. Communicate in English, both orally and in writing. Ability to handle urgent situations in a calm, capable manner.  Must be able to work at both Aspen Drive and Cook Park Libraries and occasionally at some events outside of the library. Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds, lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally with or without accommodation.

Pay Scale: $14.50

Shelver

Cook Memorial Public Library District is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented individual to shelve materials at the Aspen Drive Library in Vernon Hills.


Hours:
16-19 hours per week
Monday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday- Flexible Hours.  Two Sundays per month 12:30-3:30 p.m. (except July and August)

Duties:

  • Sorts and loads materials onto carts and shelves in proper location
  • Uses computer to print lists of requested items
  • Retrieves items from shelf to fill holds
  • Shifts collections as needed
  • Shelf reads, ensuring materials are in correct call number order

Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Detail-oriented and good organizational skills
  • Ability to alphabetize and place items in numeric order  
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to push a fully loaded (up to 100 pounds) double-sided book truck and operate automated equipment in the workplace as required with or without accommodation
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach in order to move materials from between 3" and 60" above the floor
  • Requires a full range of body motion, including sitting, standing or walking for extended periods of time with or without accommodation

Pay Scale:    $9.40 per hour
