Dear Readers,

It's now just a couple of days until the Royal Wedding!

(You know the wedding where Will marries Kate at

Westminster Abbey?)  I, Paige, simply adore royalty

and weddings. So, I want to prepare a typical

English snack while I learn more about the festivities.

Our library has great cookbooks with English recipes

and I want to tell you about three in particular:

cooking the english way

The first book is this one.  It has the call number of

J641.5942 HIL and can be found in the non-fiction

section.  I like the introduction section which gives

a good summary of foods from England, "England is

famous for its large cooked breakfast and for

after-noon tea, dainty sandwiches, and sweets served

with a pot of tea.  Takeout food also got its start in

England with fish and chips - pieces of fried cod or

haddock with thick French Fries served with salt

and vinegar."

multicultural cookbook

This is the second book with the call number of J641.59 ALB.

Pages 121-127 have recipes from the United Kingdom such as

cucumber sandwiches, scones, "Bubble and Squeak," and

Shepherd's Pie.

puffy popovers

The third book is a Kid's Dish series book and has all sorts of

great breakfast recipes, including the Peanut Butter and

Chocolate Chip Scones on pages 26-27.  Found in the same non-

fiction areas as the other cookbooks, it has a call number of

J641.52 FAU and my mouth is watering with this one!
