Dear Readers,
Whew! We are bussssssy here with all of you coming in to join
the "One World, Many Stories" Summer Reading Club! Thanks,
all 2, 222 of you, for signing up during the first week. We're
ready for more joiners...c'mon in!

There is NO WAY we could handle this massive signing-up without
the help of our 5 college-age students: Alyssa, Anna, Ben, Rachael
and Sarah. Have you met them yet? If so, please thank them for
the great job they are doing at the tables at Cook Park and Aspen!
I had a chance to talk a little with Alyssa (planning on studying
biology and chemistry at Illinois Wesleyan) about her job signing up
kids - and adults, too - at the Cook Park location. She said her top
favorite thing about working at the SRC table is seeing how
enthusiastic kids are when they sign up, especially when a prize
of food is mentioned! Alyssa said that the hardest thing about
working at the SRC table is when big groups "swarm" the area,
and she has to figure out how to hand out all the clipboards and
forms at the same time. When I asked Alyssa if she had signed
up for the Reading Club herself, she said, "Yes! I signed up on
the very first day!"
I like to think of these helpers as our own "Fab Five." Please
be patient and friendly with them as they help you, okay?
High five to our Fab Five,
Paige Turner!
