If you’re passionate about public libraries, becoming a Cook Memorial Public Library District Board of Trustees member is a great way to serve your community! Voters will pick candidates to fill three 4-year terms at the consolidated election on April 1, 2025.
Requirements
- a registered voter
- a resident of the Library District for at least one year prior to the election
- be at least 18 years of age at the time of the consolidated election on April 1, 2025
Duties
Library trustees attend all regular monthly meetings and special meetings of the board, as well as one or more board committee meetings as necessary. They participate in the decision-making process for the District, including the establishment of Library policies and goals, and monitor the budget and expenses. As stewards of public resources, board members are public servants who serve in the best interest of the community. Trustee positions are nonpartisan.

Petition papers must be filed with the Library’s Administration Office at Cook Park Library, 413 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Libertyville beginning Tuesday, November 12, 2024 through Monday, November 18, 2024 during regular business hours: weekdays from 9 am–5 pm.
