Outreach Services

Home Delivery

If you or a neighbor can’t make it into the library due to a disability, our Homebound Delivery is a great alternative. Whether it’s a temporary or long-term situation, you may put in a request for delivery of books, CDs, and DVDs. We can even help you find great titles! For more information about eligibility and to request this service, please contact Homebound Supervisor Linda Weagley at 224-513-7434 or lweagley@cooklib.org.

Senior Services

We make regular lobby stops at area senior housing facilities to deliver and pick up library material. Once signed up for this service, material may be requested for weekly or bi-weekly delivery. To sign up, please contact Homebound Supervisor Linda Weagley at 224-513-7434 or lweagley@cooklib.org. We make stops at the following facilities and also provide service to Manor Care and individual homes.

  • Brookdale Plaza
  • Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes
  • Green Oaks Senior Living
  • The Sheridan at Green Oaks
  • StoryPoint
  • Victory Centre

For the Visually Impaired

Through the Talking Books and Braille Service (TBBS) from the Illinois State Library, Illinois residents who are visually impaired may be eligible to receive free audio and braille material via mail or digital download. Cook Memorial Library can provide applications for this state and nationally run service. Pick up an application at the Reference Desk, online, or by calling TBBS at 800-426-0709.
