2022 Library Card Sign-Up Month

It’s the most important school supply on your child’s list AND the smartest card in your wallet — your library card!

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, the annual celebration of the power that public libraries offer the community. Whether you’re a library regular, new to our district, or getting the kids back in school, stop in to any Cook Memorial Public Library District (CMPLD) location to start reaping the benefits.

Don’t have a card? Getting one is easy!

Your Library Card Packs a PUNCH!

We want to reward you for using your library card this September. Pick up a special punch card at any CMPLD location for your chance to win one of our prize drawings. From checking out material or recommending a book to using the Digital Studios or attending events, earn a hole-punch for every activity you complete from our list. Collect five punches on your card to earn a ticket to enter the drawing.

How to Participate

  1. Visit any CMPLD location to pick up a punch card.
  2. Complete activities from the list on the back at the Library or online.
  3. Visit a staff member at a service desk to get a hole-punch for each completed activity.
  4. Once you collect five punches, visit the Check Out Desk to enter the drawing of your choice!

The more you use the Library, the greater your chances to win. Earn more entries for every five additional punches, so keep your punch card to continue earning! If you’re not sure how to complete an activity, staff members are happy to help.

The Fine Print

Open to all ages. Promotion runs September 1–30. Drawing winners will be notified in early October.

The Most Important School Supply

As students head back to school, be sure that a Cook Memorial Public Library District card is on your child’s school supply list. A CMPLD card provides access to resources that support homework for kids and teens, including nonfiction titles and online research tools for all subjects. Our wide fiction collection will expand your child’s vocabulary and broaden their understanding of the world around them. Let our experienced librarians suggest books based on your child’s interests to make reading an enjoyable activity!

We value the close relationship we have with the excellent K-8 and high schools in our service area. Our dedicated staff members work with school staff to supplement titles from the school’s library with titles owned by our Library. We also love visiting classrooms and school fairs to provide research instruction and talk about books! The Library is also a great resource for homeschool families, providing assistance with gathering materials to support your students’ needs. Find our more about our resources for parents, teachers, and homeschool families.

The Smartest Card in Your Wallet

Whether learning online through any of our databases, asking a trusted librarian for recommendations, or attending classes and programs in-person, a library card is your first step to achieving your career, business, and personal goals. The benefits of your library card don’t stop there! Learn more about all that’s available to you.
