Spring has finally arrived! The sun is shining and there’s no better time to create a new reading list for the season. Earlier this week, the Bookies hosted our annual Spring Books and Bites event, where we shared our list of must-read books for spring 2026. Missed the event? No worries—you’re in the right place.
With so many truly exciting books releasing this spring, it wasn’t easy to pick favorites, but we managed to narrow it down to our top five picks just for you. Whether you’re craving suspenseful thrillers, thoughtful romances, or clever comedies, there’s a reading recommendation here for everyone.
Take a look at the titles below, reserve your favorite, or go ahead and join the holds list for all of them—this is a judgment-free zone!
Go Gentle by Maria Semple
Known for her satirical style, Maria Semple is returning this spring with a novel that is filled to the brim with wit and warmth.
The narrative follows Adora Hazzard on a transformative journey of self-discovery. A Stoic philosopher and divorcée, we meet Adora while she’s living a content life on the Upper West Side. She’s found her joy and has even assembled a “coven” of like-minded women who all live on the same floor! What more could a woman want?
Her secret to happiness is simple: desire only what you already have. This lifestyle has worked wonders so far, but when she meets a handsome stranger, Adora wonders if she’s been missing something after all.
Perfect for fans of The Wedding People by Alison Espach, Marianne had a blast reading this humorous literary fiction novel that comes out on April 14th!

The Paris Match by Kate Clayborn
In this upcoming release from one of Erica’s favorite romance authors, a woman puts the limits of her so-called amicable divorce to the test—in Paris!
Accepting an invitation to her former sister-in-law’s wedding is a bold decision, but who wouldn’t want to attend a destination wedding in France? Hoping to preserve the relationship with the only family she has, Layla Bailey simply can’t stay away. But, when a conversation she has with the bride the night before the wedding threatens to ruin it, Layla has to team up with the gruff yet handsome best man to make sure the wedding goes on without a hitch.
This poignant, authentic, and romantic novel comes out on April 7th and is perfect for fans of Beth O’Leary and Katherine Center.

The Anniversary by Alex Finlay
Known for his fast-paced thrillers, Alex Finlay is back with another edge-of-your-seat story set against the backdrop of the 1990s.
Spanning nine years, the story follows two very different people, Jules and Quinn, as they grapple with their different connections to the elusive May Day Killer; a predator that strikes every year in small Midwestern towns. As they race to uncover his identity, curiosity quickly turns into obsession and danger lurks around every corner.
Filled with twists you won’t see coming, this compelling mystery comes out on May 12th. Jenny especially loved the short, bingeable chapters that had her thinking, “just one more chapter won’t hurt” again and again.

Homebound by Portia Elan
Spanning centuries and continents, this upcoming science fiction release explores the incredible interconnectedness that humanity shares over time.
In 1983, Becks channels her grief into a mission to complete the half-finished video game that her late uncle was developing before his death. She could have never imagined that this final collaboration with her beloved uncle would end up creating a ripple effect that reaches far into the future, ultimately shaping the lives of a scientist, a sentient automaton, and a flinty sea captain.
This novel is an uplifting adventure that Amy highly recommends to fans of Emily St. John Mandel’s fan-favorite book, Sea of Tranquility.

After fleeing battle and weeks of grueling travel in rough terrain, three brothers stumble upon a remote homestead where a mysterious woman, Sarafina, and her young son live. What feels like their salvation soon turns into something unsettling. As a growing sense of dread begins to reveal that something isn’t quite right with Serafina, the brothers begin to wonder if something deeply sinister is going on.
This chilling and atmospheric story is perfect for readers like Hannah, who enjoy historical fiction with a dark edge.
