Every spring our intrepid Children’s Department librarians visit 13 schools and talk to over 7000 students about all the summer fun awaiting them at the library. Last year they amazed the kids by using a banana to power up a slide show. This year, in visits concluding June 10, they are asking, “What do you get when you put together a stuffed dog named Barkington, a remote control car and a GoPro video camera?” One tech savvy youngster responded, “a viral video!”
Viewing the video of Barkington’s library adventure might inspire you to think of a potentially viral video you could create using one of the GoPro cameras you can check out from the library. Take a look:
The trophy Barkington is searching for in the video is new this year. The school with the highest percentage of students enrolled in our Summer Reading Club will have bragging rights and be able to keep it for the 2015-2016 school year.
The Summer Reading Club runs from June 1 to July 31 at all of our locations. Patrons of all ages are invited to participate, so come on in and sign up.
