Color, Color, Color
The space is coming to life! If you’ve walked or driven past Cook Park Library on Cook Avenue recently, you may have noticed a splash of color appearing in the children’s area.
Before the Renewal Project, the children’s area walls were all the same shade of gray. One of our top requests to the designers was to bring in more color — and they delivered! From vibrant paint and tile to colorful carpet and vinyl flooring, the transformation is already taking shape. And there’s even more to come with the furniture. We can’t wait for you to see it!

Temporary Wall Removed
As of Friday, February 28, the temporary wall blocking off the construction area has been removed to allow for final painting. The area is still an active work zone and remains off-limits to patrons. While stanchions and a temporary partition are in place, visitors still may be able to catch a sneak peek!
The most noticeable changes so far include fresh wall and floor coverings, but one major difference is what’s missing: the wall that once housed the family DVDs. In its place, an eye-catching new ceiling soffit now creates a welcoming entrance to the space.

Project Delay
Unfortunately, the Children’s Renewal Project is taking a little longer than expected. Due to a manufacturing delay on key items, our reopening has been pushed from the end of April to the end of May.
In the meantime, the Temporary Children’s Area will remain in the lower-level Meeting Room, and all programs scheduled for that space in May will be relocated. Please double-check locations when registering for events.
We know this isn’t the news you were hoping for (trust us, we’re just as bummed!), but we’re still incredibly excited for the big reveal. Thank you for your patience — we promise it will be worth the wait!
