ALSC’s 2020 Notable Digital Media List: Created by the Association of Library of Library Service for Children, the Notable Digital Media List includes real-time, dynamic, and interactive media content for children 14 years of age and younger that enables and encourages active engagement and social interaction while informing, educating, and entertaining in exemplary ways. Brainfuse: One of the library’s electronic resources, Brainfuse provides free online homework help when you need it, with live tutoring from certified instructors, daily 2-11 p.m., available in both English and Spanish. (Cook Memorial Public Library District library card required)
Creativebug: One of the library’s databases, Creativebug provides more than 1,000 art and craft video classes taught by design experts and artists. (Cook Memorial Public Library District library card required)
Curious City: Explore a variety of book-based home learning and literacy-based play resources, including author readalouds and interviews, links to lesson plans, and more.
Hour of Code: One-hour coding tutorials designed for all ages in over 45 languages.
Mango Languages: One of the library’s databases, Mango Languages helps you learn a new language by listening to and repeating phrases from real life conversations. Languages include Spanish, French, Italian, Greek, Russian, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Polish and Japanese. (Cook Memorial Public Library District library card required)
Mystery Science: Fun and engaging science-based mini-lessons on a variety of science topics. All mini-lessons are digital and include an activity. All activities use simple supplies that you may already have at home. For grades K-5th.
Scholastic GO!More than 115,000 articles from seven Scholastic encyclopedias: Americana, Grolier Multimedia, The New Book of Knowledge, America the Beautiful, Lands and Peoples, Amazing Animals of the World, and The New Book of Popular Science.
Scholastic Learn at Home: Each day, Scholastic is providing four separate learning experiences built around a story or video. Kids can do them on their own, with their families, or with their teachers. Just find your grade level and let the learning begin!
TeachingBooks.net’s Book & Reading Engagement Kit: Home Edition: An extensive collection of resources that explore the world of children’s and young adult books, including read-along performances of favorite titles that are translatable into 100+ languages, as well as insightful interviews with thousands of authors, and discussion questions for most books, too.
VROOM: A free online website and app that provides fun and engaging learning activities tailored to your child’s age, and also provides free, printable worksheets to use at home. Available in English and Spanish.

Cook Library Face Book LIVE Read Alouds: Tune in on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 3:00 pm CST to hear favorite picture books read aloud.
Cook Memorial Public Library District Family Story Time eNewsletter: Subscribe to the library’s story time eNewsletter and have a weekly supply of themed stories, songs and rhymes delivered to your inbox. Look for the confirmation email to complete the subscription process.
