It’s the season for many new grads and others to seek summer or permanent employment. While there are many online job hunting sites, your library can provide you with content that goes far beyond the usual. Here’s the scoop on what’s available using our service JobNow from Brainfuse:
- The Resume – In addition to accessing templates and tutorials, you can submit your resume to a JobNow trained expert who will analyze your documents and respond within 24 hours. While you will not receive feedback regarding specialized or technical information, the expert will identify grammatical and stylistic errors and provide constructive comments regarding the effectiveness of your resume and cover letter. In order to use the Resume Lab, you will need to register. That’s easy and free and only requires you to enter a username, password, and valid email address. This information will be kept confidential and will not be used for any purpose other than the Resume Lab.
- The Interview – You can connect with a live coach who will conduct an online mock interview that will give you practice under simulated interview conditions. After the mock interview, the coach will provide you with feedback and tips for improvement. To connect, select “Live Interview Coach” from the JobNow homepage. You will then connect with the coach using the Brainfuse Online Classroom, which supports instant messaging. All you need is a computer (either Mac or PC) with Internet access. You will need to disable the pop-up blocker. It may take a few minutes to enter your session for the first time.
For folks who are at an earlier stage of the process and want to explore options rather than apply for jobs, JobNow offers an interactive feature called eParachute. Use it to see how well potential careers would suit you. Whether you are currently exploring or actively hunting, JobNow can help you capture the job that’s right for you.
