UPDATE: March 26, 2024
The last phase of the project is underway. Today, Monday, March 26, workers put up the walls for the first-floor study rooms, and next up is installing the glass walls and doors to complete the rooms. If you’re at Cook Park Library this week, please watch out for materials staged on the first floor and lower level.
The work should be done by the end of the week, but construction timelines are unpredictable. We’ll keep you posted on any changes! Thank you for your continued patience and support while we improve the Library’s spaces.
Work is moving along — although it may not look like it. The electrical behind-the-scenes work included the installation of outlets in the newly framed study room wall on the first floor and in the ceiling of the new conference room on the Lower Level.
Updates can be found here as work continues. Thank you for your continued patience and support while we improve the Library’s spaces.

Your Library Board of Trustees and staff regularly explore ways to keep our beautiful facilities fresh and relevant to meet your needs and make every visit an enjoyable one. This spring, Cook Park Library in Libertyville and Aspen Drive Library in Vernon Hills will see new improvements to enhance your Library experience.
Conference Space & Additional Study Rooms
One part of the Library’s strategic plan is to optimize space at Cook Park Library in Libertyville to provide more private and collaborative workspaces for remote workers and students. In support of this strategy, three new private study rooms as well as a new 10-person conference room will be added.
Work begins on Monday, February 19 and the rooms should be completed and ready for use by early April. Patrons will have access to all materials during this time.
Visit cooklib.org/services/room-reservations for more information on how to book a room at either Library location.
Funding
These projects are funded from reserves set aside by the Library Board for infrastructure improvements and maintenance. These reserves help keep our buildings useful, attractive, and well-maintained for your enjoyment for years to come.
